As global trade and investment fracture, how is your organisation reimagining itself?

Businesses have absorbed multiple shocks in the past 5 years — a pandemic that fractured supply chains, trade wars that have weaponised tariffs, and wars in Europe and the Middle East that have remade energy and commodity markets. Each shock has left the world economy subtly (and permanently) changed. Layered beneath these disruptions are three megatrends that are reshaping the competitive landscape: a reordering of regional supply chains; the rise of AI, which is rewriting assumptions about productivity and human capital; and a surge in public debt across major economies, which is constraining the policy tools governments once relied upon.
In this session, Richard Martin, Managing Director of IMA Asia and one of Asia's most experienced market strategists, will assess how the US, Europe, China and India are realigning their economies, drawing on the debates that have emerged across IMA Asia's Forums in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. He will explain what these shifts mean at the corporate level, examining why global structures and strategies that served firms well through the era of integration are now under pressure — and what a credible, forward-looking response looks like.

Key Takeaways

How successive global shocks have altered the architecture of trade and investment flows, and what the new map looks like for the US, Europe, China and India.

What the 3 underlying megatrends mean for longer-term competitive dynamics, and which industries and geographies will face the sharpest disruptions.

Why global corporate structures designed for a world of deep integration are straining – and the rethinking now underway in boardrooms across Asia.

How senior leaders can reposition their organisations for an era defined by resilience and selective de-risking rather than seamless globalisation.
