<p>India aims to make manufacturing a key driver of growth, yet the sector still accounts for just ~17% of GDP, largely unchanged from two decades ago. The need for a robust industrial base that absorbs millions of workers as they come of age; that synchs with global and regional supply chains; and that taps into India’s natural advantages, has never been greater. The only question is whether, given a fast-changing world, India can still industrialise at the scale and speed needed to make the country rich before it grows old. </p>.<p>IMA conducted a detailed study, based on interviews with over 25 CXOs from various industrial segments, to capture perspectives on India’s evolving manufacturing landscape. This report examines how firms are navigating shifting demand conditions, policy interventions, supply chain realignments and competitiveness challenges, while also highlighting emerging opportunities across sectors and states.
